FAQs

"How does this work, what do I do, I'm nervous, help?!?"

Chill out and read below:

Sauna Rental:

Do I have to know how to use the sauna or have prior experience:  Absolutely not!  We'll provide you with a user manual but more importantly walk you through the whole process as well as how to take a traditional sauna and get the most out of your experience!

I've never used a woodstove before, what do I do, is it dangerous:  No worries!  Unlike most woodstoves found in a home, the sauna's stove is very basic!  No levers, no adjustments, no previous experience necessary!  We'll even show you how to start a fire in no time at all!

What about kids:  Saunas are safe for kids as long as they are supervised.  The stove can cause very serious damage if touched.  Like most anything it's a good idea to start slowly and take a break to cool off every 10 to 15 minutes, or as your body indicates.  It is recommended that kids under 6 spend no more than a few minutes per day in a sauna.

How many people can use the sauna at a time:  4 or 5 fit very comfortably with PLENTY of space.  6 if you're really good friends.  That doesn't mean more people can't be involved in the sauna experience though, as a proper sauna session involves alternating time in and out of the sauna!

My deer camp is in the middle of nowhere, can you get the sauna back there:  sounds like a challenge!  For off grid or back country rentals we can include about 5-10 gallons of water.  Delivery is subject to road conditions.

Is there a minimum rental time:  There is a two night minimum rental.  If your rental occurs over a holiday we will likely require a 3 to 5 night minimum.  If you are located more than 20 miles from Cheboygan there will be a delivery charge and we may require a 3 night minimum rental.

What time is drop off and pick up: We strive to be flexible and accommodating.

How much is delivery:  Delivery is free within 20 miles of Cheboygan, longer distances will incur a delivery charge and may require a 3 night minimum rental.

What comes with my rental:  At this time your rental includes the following:  the sauna, enough kindling and wood for several good sessions, bucket and ladle for steam, and an outdoor cold shower to hook up to a hose.  For an additional $60 we offer a 100 gallon tank for cold water immersion.  You will need your own towels and bathing suits.

Can my dog join me in the sauna:  Do some reading on that subject.  From what we understand a low temp (110 degrees) is safe for your mutt, but make sure they sign the liability waiver first!

What else can I get:  If you'd like you can purchase additional wood, a 100 gallon tank for cold water immersion, essential oils to mix with the water, a Cheboygan Sauna branded hat, towel, bathrobe, etc. if available.

Can I add additional nights to my rental at the last minute:  If availability allows and it's not booked already, absolutely!

How much room do you need to park the sauna:  The footprint of the sauna and trailer is about 17 feet long, 8 feet wide, and 10 feet high.

Is electricity needed:  Nope...the sauna is wood-fired and bad ass!

Do you deliver to campgrounds or vacation rentals, like Airbnb or Vrbo:  Yes but we beg you, please confirm with your campground or vacation rental PRIOR to booking the sauna!

What if I want it moved part way through my rental period:  Ok...let's say you want to tube down the river and have the sauna waiting there ready to go when you get out...or you want it one night at deer camp, the next night at your house...or you want to use it while you're ice fishing then have a session that evening at home?  We dig it, we're open to it, and will help accommodate if possible!  There may be costs associated.

Do I need to check with a doctor in order to use the sauna or getting in cold water:  Yes.  The extreme heat of the sauna and extreme cold of the water, although incredibly beneficial to most, can be detrimental to some. You should definitely check with your doctor and always minimize your exposure the first several times until you feel comfortable with the process. We cannot be held liable for any medical conditions from our customers. To be safe, please consult with your doctor prior to your sauna and or cold water experience.
